I’ve always wondered why people hate Valentine’s Day so much. From the single ones who feel lonely and end up making everyone else feel miserable to the couples who feel like it’s a silly “commercial” holiday only designed to make you spend money on stuff you don’t need. Like really, what is their deal?
Even as a single gal I have always loved Valentine’s Day and all the pink and heart shaped baked goods that it brings. If you know me at all then you’ll know that I’ll jump on any occasion to wear pink or eat an extra cute cookie, but it’s not only about gifts and treats. Valentine’s Day is a celebration of love, and I mean all kinds of love.
Loving or being passionate about something is what makes life worth living. And I truly believe that. We shot these pictures on a freezing Sunday morning: my amazing photographer Gabe and I were carrying around the city two huge garment bags containing two gowns and an extra bag filled with different props and accessories and while chatting and talking in between shots, it hit me. You really must be passionate about what you do to be braving freezing temperatures on a Sunday morning when most people are still asleep. But honestly there was nowhere else I would have rather been. My love for fashion and for creating beautiful content literally makes me jump out of bed on a Sunday morning and makes me feel warm on a freezing day.
I hope you take the time to celebrate love and life today.
After all Gandhi said it himself, “Where there is love, there is life.”
How about you? What gets you going?
