It all started back in December 2014 when a few articles appeared on a limited edition collaboration between makeup giant MAC Cosmetics and Haute Couture designer Giambattista Valli expected to be released the following summer. As soon as I saw this picture my heart skipped a beat. I never ever bought any MAC Cosmetics limited editions before and I only own 2 items from the brand, both of which were gifts. So we can say I am definitely not a MAC addict, but I didn't care about any of that, I KNEW I HAD TO GET THESE.
During the past 7 months more and more pictures from the collection surfaced keeping us on the edge for more. It was only at the beginning of July 2015 that MAC PR finally confirmed a launch date: July 9th 2015.
And today is finally that day! After a really agitated night of sleep I left my house bright and early in the morning to be sure I could get a decent spot in the line waiting for the store to open. I arrived in front of the Union Square MAC store in NYC at 8 am, one hour before its opening. It was pouring and there was nobody in front of it. Under my tiny pink umbrella I started freaking out thinking that the launch of the collection had been delayed or worse that this store would be selling it and, with my iPhone on hand, I started doing some last minute researches.
Thank God the store manager was already inside the store and came out to see what I wanted. He was an absolute angel and told me he would be putting the lipsticks I wanted on the side for me. So I could go somewhere dry and cozy to wait for the store to open.
When I got back there, 10 minutes before the opening, there were maybe 8 people waiting in front of the store. We all had got what we wanted and I'm sure there are still lots of products available. I am quite surprised that I was the first there actually and thought it was going to be way crazier! Maybe I can thank the rain for it and of course most of the people get them online (all lipsticks except Margherita are currently sold out on the US website).
So now onto the pictures of these gorgeous gals!
Isn't this packaging everything?
From left to right: Margherita (matte bright peach orange), Bianca B (matte pale white pink), Tats (matte bright hot pink), Charlotte (matte rich yellow red) and Eugenie (matte matte dark cherry with blue undertones).
Swatches, no filter.
I am absolutely in love with all of them and very pleased with their texture, smell and coverage.
I am beyond thrilled I could get my hands on this collection that I have been waiting for half a year!
Let me know in the comments down below which one is your favorite and if you got or are planning to get something from this collection!
